To qualify for an immigrant investor visa, the foreigner must invest, without loan, the following amounts (in dollars) of minimum qualified capital in a commercial company:
$ 1,800,000 (USD);
or
$ 900,000 (USD) in a rural or local area with a high unemployment rate, considered a Target Employment Area.
A qualifying investment must, within two years, create full-time jobs for at least 10 U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or other immigrants authorized to work in the United States, not including the investor and the investor’s spouse, sons, or daughters. Labor certification is not required for immigrant investors.
